We may think that our area of the state and country is a bit safer than other parts, especially when it comes to our roadways. However, regardless of where one lives, even here in Sterling Heights. This was demonstrated in a recent truck accident on I-75 that involved multiple vehicles.

The accident

Last Friday saw I-75 at a standstill. There was a police manhunt and a multi-vehicle truck accident. According to Michigan State Police, at just around 1:00 p.m., a car impacted an 18-wheeler while going Northbound on I-75.

The injuries

While this did not cause any injuries, a second vehicle could not stop, and it to collided with the truck, sliding under the truck. A third, and final car crashed into the collection of cars. The left one person pinned under the 18-wheeler, but everyone else was uninjured. The freeway opened up before 5:00 p.m.

The consequences

While this case is still under investigation, based on how the Michigan State Police described the incident, the original car that impacted the semi-truck is likely responsible for the entire multivehicle truck accident. If that proves to be the case, by either a police investigation or subsequent attorney investigation, that driver is responsible for all the damages that resulted from that accident.

Through a personal injury lawsuit, all of the accident victims can sue this negligent party to recover for their damages. This includes their vehicle damage, lost time at work, medical expenses, pain and suffering, etc. But, as this type of lawsuit usually requires an investigation, those injured by negligent drivers should contact an attorney.
